High-density pallet storage with automated movement inside the rack.

Shuttle Racking combines deep-lane pallet storage with a powered shuttle that moves pallets through the storage channel.

Instead of a forklift travelling deep inside each lane, the forklift places the pallet at the entrance. A battery-powered or motor-driven shuttle then transports the pallet along rails to the required storage position.

This reduces forklift travel within the rack structure and makes Shuttle Racking particularly suitable for operations managing high pallet volumes and repeated movements.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does a pallet shuttle work? +

The forklift places the pallet at the lane entrance and the powered shuttle transports it through the rack.

Does the forklift enter the storage lane? +

Generally no, which reduces forklift travel within the deep-lane rack structure.

Can Shuttle Racking support FIFO? +

Certain layouts can support FIFO operation where pallets are loaded and retrieved from opposite ends.

Is Shuttle Racking fully automated? +

Not necessarily. Many pallet shuttle systems are semi-automated and still use forklifts for transferring pallets to and from the rack.

When is Shuttle Racking worth considering? +

It becomes particularly relevant where pallet volumes, storage density and repeated movements justify a more automated approach.

Is it suitable for cold storage? +

Yes. Shuttle Racking is commonly considered for high-density temperature-controlled environments.
